Our new CEO brings over 20 years of wireless technology business and marketing experience. He has proven management skill with multiple fortune 500 companies. At his previous position he introduced a number of wireless industry first-to-market products and was responsible for marketing, strategic planning, and strategic partnerships. He has successfully launched several revolutionary products for Motorola and 3COM. He holds a BS in computer information systems and a MBA from Regis University in Colorado.
Mike has more than 12 years of experience in the wireless technology sector, six at wireless startups. He was a prior voting member at IEEE 802.11 and 802.15 meetings. Mr. Derby’s postgraduate degrees include a master’s in engineering from Clarkson and an MBA from Cornell. Mike founded AvaLAN Wireless and for the first year was the only employee. Since then, his single-minded focus has guided AvaLAN's steady growth in sales and profitability.
Richard Ramm
Director of Sales
Richard has more than 25 years of experience in the wireless technology and physical security industries. He previously was a VP of Sales & Operations for IMAG Technologies (Wireless Access Control Products) of Vancouver, British Columbia. Prior to IMAG, he held leadership sales positions with Wireless Access and Aleph International.

Peter Bodine
Peter is a Managing Director of Allegis Capital, a prominent Silicon Valley investment firm. Prior to Allegis, he co-founded APV Technology Partners, where he was a General Partner of three funds totaling more than $220M. Mr. Bodine’s area of expertise is growing early stage IT companies using the Allegis Capital network of corporate contacts to help leverage marketing channels and accelerate revenues for the firm’s portfolio companies. Mr. Bodine holds an MBA from the University of Utah.
Robert Samuelsen
Robert has served in a variety of C-level positions in startups and mid-market firms and was most recently president and CEO of Redlake MASD, a wholly owned subsidiary company of Roper Industries and former division of Eastman Kodak. He has 13 years as a professional and executive at AT&T and NCR Corporations. Mr. Samuelsen is a U.S. patent holder and winner of NCR’s Chief Scientist Eureka award. He holds an MBA from Indiana University.
John Sobota
John has an Electrical Engineering degree and an MBA from the University of Alberta and is a registered Professional Engineer in the Province of Alberta. Mr. Sobota is cofounder of Eleven Engineering, Inc, a market leader in modules and microprocessors designed for wireless audio and other realtime-intensive microcontroller applications. He has over 11 years of product development experience, is a guest lecturer at the University of Alberta in product development, and has over 20 patent/design patent filings to his credit.
Spencer Tall
Spencer is a Managing Director of Allegis Capital. Prior to Allegis, Mr. Tall was co-founder and General Partner with APV Technology Partners, where he oversaw three funds for more than 10 years. Mr. Tall is also co-founder of Asia Pacific Ventures, LLC, a consulting and advisory services firm. He holds a bachelor’s of science degree in political science and Japanese from Brigham Young University.

Tim
is an electronics industry veteran who currently serves as the Chief Financial Officer of Jupiter Foundation. Previously, he was the president and Chief Executive Officer of Micro Linear Corporation, which was acquired by Sirenza Microdevices, Inc. At Sirenza, he served as the Chief Strategy Advisor. He also was president and co-founder of VeriFiber Technologies, which was acquired by Bandwidth 9, where he served as Executive Vice President following the acquisition.
Ray Shilling
Ray has 18 years experience leading sales teams and developing marketing programs for a variety of hardware and software technology companies, including Canon, URS Greiner, and MCI/Worldcom. Mr. Shilling received a master’s of engineering from the University of California, Berkeley.
